Chairman's Report

NGNuk Executive Chairman's Update No 18 for December 2010.

I am pleased to say that the recent statement by Ofcom, regarding how BIS and Ofcom plan to approach the implementation of those elements of the EU Framework Directive relating to network security and integrity, have given an impetus and urgency to our work to establish the NICC Minimum Security Standard for Interconnecting Communications Providers. Further details on this can be found in the minutes published for October and November and also in the Minimum Security Section of this web site.
The first CPs are currently being audited against the Standard and work will finally commence with UKAS in the new year regarding formal accreditation of Certification Bodies to audit against the Standard.
Our other activities continue to progress well and I am pleased to see a growing number of topics being raised at the Executive meetings for review and debate.
