Any company that is committed to satisfying the Terms of Reference of NGNuk and meets the applicable membership criteria may become a Member of NGNuk.
There are 2 classes of membership Executive Members and Participating Members. In addition the Secretariat seeks to ensure appropriate communication is maintained with industry associations via Associate membership.
Executive Membership is open to Electronic Communications Network providers with a demonstrable, substantial, network investment (whether existing or committed) in NGNs in the UK and intention to interconnect with other ECNs and whose participation as Executive Members will materially contribute to the achievement of the Terms of Reference
It is expected that an Executive Member will be committed to active participation in the full arrange of activities of NGNuk in order to achieve the aim and objectives detailed in the Terms of Reference.
In order to facilitate the effective working of NGNuk it is desirable to maintain the number of Executive Members at a manageable level. Accordingly, further applications for Executive membership will be considered in consultation with the NGNuk Executive and Ofcom, with respect to the impact of further Executive members upon achieving the terms of reference and objectives set out in the constitution.
Membership fees for Executive Membership are £15,000 per annum.
Participating Membership is open to any company that is an Electronic Communications Network or Service provider that has a bona fide and demonstrable intention to interconnect, use or invest in NGN in the UK.
Participating members will be invited to provide input and support to the workgroups and will have full access to all documentation.
Membership for Participating Membership is £1,500 per annum
Any company or body that is a recognised association or group representing the interests of a number of Electronic Communications Network providers, Electronic Communications Service providers, or other stakeholders in NGNs in the UK may participate in the activities of NGNuk as an Associate.
Each Associate, or its representative will be offered a communication channel with the NGNuk via the NGNuk Secretariat who will also provide regular feedback to Associates. Associates may be invited to present reasoned arguments at working groups, and in exceptional circumstances, to the NGNuk Executive Meetings.
Associates are not entitled to attend the NGNuk Executive nor the working groups. Furthermore Associates will not be given access to the working documents, meeting minutes or written contributions of the work groups.
Membership of NGNuk is restricted to Communications Providers (CP) investing in,or using, next generation IP networks since our key focus is the development of a new commercial framework suitable for future CP to CP interconnect.
However, NGNuk actively encourages manufacturers to support the technical standards work undertaken by NICC ( www.nicc.org.uk )with whom NGNuk has a comprehensive dialogue. Through this and via dialogue with their own CP customers, we anticipate that Manufacturers and Suppliers can participate fully in the evolution of the NGN interconnect framework for the UK
