Chairman's Report No 9

NGNuk Executive Chairman's Report No 9 for May 2007

I am pleased to report that the last month has seen a continuation of the momentum gained over the last few months.

BTW has provided an initial response to the thoughts of NGNuk on interconnect numbers and locations, however some level of iteration between NGNuk and BTW will be necessary to clarify some issues over the next few months. BTW will also seek wider input on the positionoutlined by NGNuk via their Consult 21 process.

A draft of the public paper outlining NGNuk views on the suitability of the charging models (CPP, RPP and B&K) has been circulated. The final paper is expected to be published on this web site during May.

Building upon the work on charging models Members are currently providing feedback on the options for potential charge frameworks (i.e. what is charged for and how). The first iteration should be completed during May.

Work on both the End to End Requirements and the Interconnect Requirements continue. The E2E requirements have been available publicly for the last month though I am surprised that we have not had any feedback from non members. Member feedback on the Interconnect Requirements is being reviewed and a new draft will be issued shortly. Additionally non member input will be sought prior to wider public availability. If you feel you could participate in this activity please contact the Secretariat (See Contacts)

Liaison with NICC continues to establish whether the various technical work streams can be delivered as required. It is apparent that some further prioritisation is required to enable the satisfactory delivery of the Green Release due in August 2007.

The scoping of work for subsequent releases from an NGNuk and NICC perspective is underway. There will be significant challenges in acquiring the resources necessary within the industry to deliver everything the Industry requires.

We have a new member of staff Mark Dalziel who will be working on the overall programme with Peter Ryde.

Finally, today we published the minutes from the NGNuk Executive meeting of the 29th March. As you will see within the minutes we are now, finally making progress towards agreeing the overall work programme with a more complete programme to be presented at the April Executive.
